Handbook Translations
We are working on translations of the Anti-Autocracy Handbook.
Want to help translate the Handbook into another language? Get in touch with us at aah-translations@online.ms
Please mention the language you would like to tackle. We will then provide more information about the translation and/or put you in touch with others if a translation has already been started.
Translations already published: German, Italian
Translations offered or in the works: French, Hungarian, Japanese, Spanish
What does the translation task involve?
It’s usually helpful if 2 to 4 people collaborate on the task for a language. Somebody takes the “lead” and prepares a first draft of the translation (or pages get divided up to spread the workload). Deepl.com can help with the task if the language is already available on the platform. The free version, however, has a restriction on how much text can be translated in one go. Once the “lead translator” is happy, somebody else should proofread the drafted translation. This usually leads to some back and forth via comments, but everything happens in a shared online file, so is easy to follow.
Once the translation is complete, we will let the handbook designer know that a translation is ready to be copied into the handbook’s layout. Proofreading and corrections will happen via PDF proofs and - based on experience with other handbooks - it usually takes 2 to 3 proofreading cycles until a handbook translation is ready to be published.
